On April 21, 8 representatives of FEC were invited by H. E. Ms. Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa, Ambassador of India, for a Luncheon Meeting at the Indian Embassy in Tokyo. The meeting was held following the FEC executive luncheon meeting in January where Ambassador Wadhwa was invited as a guest. From FEC, President Ken Matsuzawa, Senior Managing Director Hiroyuki Yushita, Mr. Kenichi Watanabe, Chairman of FEC Japan-India Cultural and Economic Exchange Committee (Senior Advisor to the Board, Nomura Holdings), Mr.Hiroshi Hirabayashi, President of the Japan-India Association (Former Ambassador to India) and others attended. From the Indian embassy, Ambassador Wadhwa, Deputy Chief of Mission Sanjay Panda and two other diplomats atteded. Ambassador Wadhwa made a welcome speech, ” I am very pleased to welcome the business leaders of Japan today. I would like to discuss with you and to hear the ideas on hot issues of TPP negotiation and Indian economy. ” In reply, President Matsuzawa said, “India is the largest democratic country in the world and I understand that India and Japan share the basic national principles including respect of human rights, freedom of religion and speech, etc. I expect further development of Japan-India relationship.” Enjoying the Indian food, Mr. Abbagani Ramu, Counsellor spoke on Indian economy, using a slide show.
