FEC

FEC sent the 16^th FEC Delegation to Lao PDR and Myanmar from 16^th to 23rd March 2014. The delegation, headed by Mr. Norio Yamaguchi, Vice Chairman of FEC, Chairman of FEC Japan-ASEAN Cultural and Economic Exchange Committee, Chairman of the Board of AJINOMOTO Co., Inc, consisted of 15 FEC members.

In Lao PDR, the Delegation met H. E. Mr. Thongsing Thammavong, Prime Minister and high-ranking government officials and had various fruitful exchanges of views with them. They visited Savan-Seno SEZ where Japanese investment is expected to increase. The members enjoyed passing the East-West Economic Corridor by bus from Savannakhet to Khon Kaen through Mukdahan. It attracts attention as a main artery which bears the economic development of ASEAN, therefore it was a good opportunity for them to study about the infrastructure development.

They moved to Mandalay, located in the central part of Myanmar. They had meetings with H. E. U Aung Zan, Minister of National Planning and Economic Development, Mandalay Region Government and others. They visited Mandalay International Airport and deepened knowledge about the investment environment.

Dr. Nam Viyaketh, Minister of Industry and Commerce. Dinner hosted by H. E. Mr. Hiroyuki Kishino, Ambassador of Japan to the Lao PDR.

〈18th〉 AM＝Visit to VITA PARK (industrial park).

PM= Meeting with H. E. Mr. Viraphonh Viravong, Vice Minister of Mining and Energy. Meeting with H. E. Dr. Khamlien Pholsena, Vice Minister of Planning and Investment. Dinner with members of Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Vientiane

〈19th〉 AM= Move from Vientiane for Savannakhet. Meeting with Mr. Bouakham Sisoulath, Chief Executive of Savan-Seno SEZ.

PM= Lunch with Japanese companies operating at Savan-Seno SEZ. KP Beau Lao Factory Tour. Move to Khon Kaen, Thailand, through Mukdahan by bus.

〈20th〉 AM= Move from Khon Kaen for Mandalay (by way of Bangkok).

PM= Visit to Mandalay International Airport. Sightseeing

〈21st〉　AM= Meeting with Mr. Bruce Reynolds, Project Director (Administration) of Mandalay Myotha Industrial Development Public Co., Ltd

PM= Meeting with H. E. U Than Soe Myint, Minister of Forest, Mines, Religious and Labour Affairs, Mandalay Region Government. Meeting with H. E. U Aung Zan, Minister of National Planning and Economic Development, Mandalay Region Government. Move to Pyin Oo Lwin. Dinner hosted by Mr. Norio Yamaguchi, Leader of the Delegation.

〈22nd〉　AM= Sightseeing. Move to Mandalay.
