FEC hosted a welcoming breakfast meeting for H. E. Mr. Luvsannyam Gantumur, Parliament Member, Minister for Education and Science of Mongolia at Hotel New Otani on November 19. From Mongolian side, 5 people including Mr. E. Tamir, Vice Minister of Population Development and Social Protection and Mongolian Ambassador Sodovjamts Khurelbaatar attended. Japanese attendants were FEC President Mr. Ken Matsuzawa, Mr. Naohiko Ito, Chairman of FEC Japan-Mongolia Cultural and Economic Exchange Committee (Corporate Adviser to Japan Freight Railway Co., Ltd), Mr. Kenichi Matsumoto, CEO of Sakura Global Group, Sakura Global Holding Co., Ltd, and so on. They exchanged useful views over the meeting.
FEC President Matsuzawa said in his welcoming remarks that “ FEC is a liberal circle where the member can express its view frankly. We would lilke to hear what Mongolian friends expect from Japan, and would like to explore if any support can be done by FEC. I respect Mongolian students in Japan. They are diligent and have a moral sense. ”
Minister Gantumur talked lively in fluent Japanese. “ We make effort to realize the various matters which Prime Minister Abe and our Prime Minister agreed when they met in March. We would like to improve the academic research environment of Mongolian universities. In the near future, we plan to construct a new town in Ulaanbaatar like Tsukuba Science City. We want to invite many foreign researchers to bring up 1000 engineers by ODA yen loan. We have 3 million population in Mongolia, however only half a millon people may have ability to work. Therefore we have to ask Japanese people for cooperation. We also want to send more Mongolian students to Japanese universities.”
At the end of the meeting, they exchanged souvenirs and all members took a group photo.
