FEC hosted a welcome breakfast meeting for H. E. Mr. Aleksandr Dmitrievich Zhukov, First Deputy Head of the State Duma of Russian Federation at the Hotel New Otani Tokyo on December 21, 2018. From Russian side, 9 people attended including Mr. Mikhail Galuzin, Russian Ambassador to Japan, and Mr. Leonid Slutsky, Head of Committee on International Affairs of the State Duma. From FEC side, 10 people attended including FEC President Ken Matsuzawa,Mr. Masaharu Kohno, Special Representative of the Government of Japan, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Norimasa Nishida, Principle, TOYOKO-INN GROUP of Companies.
FEC President Ken Matsuzawa made a welcome remark and said, “It is a great honor to be able to welcome First Deputy Head of the State DumaMr. Zhukov and your party. I sincerely welcome you. All of today’s participants wish for further friendship and development between Japan and Russia.There is a continuing issue between the two countries. but I am sure that it can be resolved by talks. I am looking forward to frank exchange of opinions.“
First Deputy Head of the State Duma Mr. Zhukov said, “I would like to thank you for inviting me to the breakfast meeting.Our delegation was formed beyond the Russian faction. Everyone thinks about the Russo-Japanese relationship important and hopes to promote it.We are prepared to make open discussions, and please don’t hesitate to say frankly if you
have any concerns.” There were active exchange of views including Russia side’s response to Japanese projects. After breakfast talks, the participants took a commemorative group photo.
