The 6th Joint Japan-Viet Nam Economic Seminar

On 27th November, we hosted the 6th Joint Japan-Viet Nam Economic Seminar welcoming H. E. Mr. Bui Quang Binh, Minister of Planning and Investment and his party at Imperial Hotel Tokyo in cooperation with the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) of Viet Nam and the Embassy of Viet Nam in Tokyo. This seminar aimed at deepening mutual understanding and resolving obstacles and problems in business between our two countries. Since February 2010, this seminar has been held five times on the occasion of high-ranking Viet Nam official’s visit to Japan, such as H. E. Mr. Vo Hong Phuc, then Minister of Planning and Investment.
This time, the seminar was held under the themes as follows; “Viet Nam’s industrialization policy toward 2020 and cooperation of Japanese companies” (lectured by the Minister), “Policies for promoting Japanese investment in Viet Nam” (lectured by Mr. Do Nhat Hoang, Director General of Foreign Investment Agency of MPI), “Observation of the way how to promote Japanese SMEs investment in Viet Nam” (lectured by Mr. Mitsuru Okada, Former General Director of Panasonic Viet Nam Company Ltd). After the lectures, the Minister frankly answered some questions from the attendees about amendment of the Company Law, preferential treatment of supporting industries, education of basic science, cooperation between universities of our two countries.
The seminar was attended by over 120 people including H. E. Mr. Doan Xuan Hung, Ambassador of Viet Nam in Japan and Mr. Yoshihiko Nakagaki, Chairman of FEC Japan-Viet Nam Cultural and Economic Exchange Committee, Corporate Adviser and Former President of Electric Power Development Co., Ltd.
Followed by the seminar, Mr. Ken Matsuzawa, President of FEC hosted a welcome luncheon in honor of the Minister and his party in a friendly atmosphere.
