FEC hosted a welcoming breakfast meeting for Mr. Sergey Evgenievich Naryshkin, Chairman of the State Duma, Russian Federation, at Imperial Hotel Tokyo on June 17. Mr. Naryshkin is one of the most close aides of President Putin and the most important person in Russia’s policy towards Japan. He visited Japan to attend the opening ceremony of the 11th Russian Cultural Festival in JAPAN, and he was scheduled to meet Prime Minister Abe and government officials. FEC has been deepening friendship with him since he was appointed as Deputy Prime Minister, Chief Cabinet Secretary and Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office.A frank exchange of opinions was held within a limited time at the 8th FEC-sponsored breakfast meeting.From Russia side 10 people attended including Ambassador Afanasief,Mr. Pinsky, Chairman of the Committee on Procedures and Organization Issues of the State Duma,Mr. Pligin, Chairman, Constitutional Law and Nation Building Committee, State Duma.From Japan side 18 people attended including FEC President Matsuzawa,Mr. Yoshinari Hara, Vice Chairman of FEC Japan-Russia Cultural and Economic Exchange Committee, Chief Corporate Advisor and Former Chairman, Daiwa Securities Group Inc.,Mr. Masaharu Kohno, Advisor of FEC Japan-Russia Cultural and Economic Exchange Committee, Special Representative of the Government of Japan, former Ambassador to Russia and Mr. Hiroshi Saito, Vice Chairman / Director of FEC, Honorary Advisor, Mizuho Financial Group, former Chairman, Mizuho Corporate Bank, Ltd.
