FEC invited H.E. Dr. Reza Nazar Ahari, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to an Executive Luncheon Meeting at the Hotel Okura Tokyo on November 21. The meeting was held on the theme of “Current situation of Iran and future prospects of Japan- Iran relations”. Mr. Takaya Suto, Advisor to FEC Japan-Middle East Cultural and Economic Exchange Committee (Senior Advisor to Japan Institute of International Affairs, Center for the Promotion of Disarmament and Non-Proliferation, Former Ambassador to Iran ) made a welcome remark, “Iran nuclear talks are going on towards final agreement. In the Middle East area, Islamic State militants (ISIS) have extended the power, but this problem cannot be solved without Iran’s cooperation. While the importance of Iran increases, today I’m looking forward to Ambassador Ahari’s speech on the latest situation in Iran.”
Over the lunch, Ambassador Ahari talked a fun story, ” My last name is derived from the Iranian region name. Ahar is famous for good climate. Cherries are famous. Sweet and sour citrus also have been harvested, most of which are organic. “ He remarked on timely topics including the prospects of Iran nuclear talks, updated Iranian political situation, latest Japan- Iran relations and suggestion and request to Japan. After the speech, he replied to questions from the attendants, followed by exchange of business cards.
